Interview with Jacky Rosen, CEO of Leading Control Systems
Jacky Rosen started his career as a management consultant in the UK, specializing in small to medium sized organizations. Over time he was slowly pulled into the world of global finance, first in commercial property and then in high tech start-ups and private equity. Currently, he sits on the board of several companies, and is the CEO of Leading Control Systems (LCS).
Who is LCS and how long has it been in existence?
Founded in 2002, LCS, Leading Control Systems, is an integrator in the field of Building Automation, and the religious company in our field. (We don’t work on Shabbat, Chagim or Chol Hamoed.) I am very proud to be part of a company that follows Halacha. On several occasions we have passed up projects because there was a demand for service on Shabbat.
What is Building Automation?
Building automation is the drive to make buildings more automated, integrating technologies in order to control the different systems in buildings (e.g. Water, Electricity, Heating, air conditioning.)
How have the technological advancements of the past decade helped you to improve your business and provide better solutions?
We are at the forefront of technological advancements. Our purpose is to harness technology and bring it into buildings, new builds and refurbs. Our solutions are state of the art, used by many of the leading organizations in Israel and the world.
Give us some examples of your main clients in different industries.
Sourasky Medical Centre, Israel Electric Company, Airport Authority, Israel Aerospace Industries, Israel Discount Bank, The Weitzmann Institute, The Ministry of Defense, The Waldorf Astoria.
How do you help your clients cut costs?
Our systems allow building owners and operators to manage their buildings and resources, enabling them to benefit from reduced maintenance and servicing costs, faster problem resolution, and reduced energy wastage.
Tell us about an interesting project you have recently worked on.
The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem, a phenomenal site, and challenging project. We did all the controls in the building, from the guest rooms to the ballroom, even the motors that control the glass ceiling in the reception area.
Which part of your business keeps you the most busy?
In addition to my role as CEO, I am also the operations manager. We have teams of electricians, engineers and installers who work on site implementing projects. Designing plans, writing programs, ordering equipment and ensuring that everything runs smoothly and on time is itself a full time job.
How do you use the gained experience of the last 15 years to help private home owners?
Until last year we operated in the commercial & industrial field; our products were installed in hospitals, hotels, malls, office blocks, laboratories, server rooms etc. This type of site requires high end and reliable equipment. In the second half of 2015 we completed the development of our “Genie” product line for private homes… GenieHouse. We are now giving private home owners and tenants access to the high end technology solutions that we installed in leading commercial locations.
What solutions do you offer to the average home owner and how’s the affordability?
Our GenieHouse plug and play solution allows home owners to automate their homes, to remotely monitor and control their homes at a fraction of the cost of existing systems, and without needing to rewire the whole home.
What type of home owner would benefit the most from LCS solutions?
Anyone who wants a simple to install and user friendly home automation system, and of course shomer Shabbat families.
How is the system installed?
The system can be easily installed by any electrician or we can install the system for you.
How does your system deal with Shabbat?
Our GenieHouse system is specially designed for the religious household, and comes with multiple clocks and schedules for Shabbat mode – regular zmanim and Rabbeinu Tam zman.
How do I use GenieHouse?
The system is controlled through a free app that can be downloaded onto a smartphone, tablet or computer.
